The class discusses the importance of understanding a friend&#8217;s personality.<\/p>\n<h1>OBJECTIVE<\/h1>\n<p>The participants will understand how the four personality styles regard friendship.<\/p>\n<h1>LENGTH<\/h1>\n<p>20 minutes<\/p>\n<h1>MATERIALS<\/h1>\n<p>None<\/p>\n<h1>PROCESS<\/h1>\n<p>Step 1: Divide the participants into pairs, preferably of different colors.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Ask each pair to discuss with each other how their own personality style feels about friends and friendships.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: After a few minutes of discussion, invite each pair to report to the class their findings. Invite a &#8220;scribe&#8221; to record the answers so everyone can see them. Possible answers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blues<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Need to have friends who can get together often.<\/li>\n<li>Frequently talk with friends on the phone.<\/li>\n<li>Like to share experiences and feelings with friends.<\/li>\n<li>Require a lot out of a relationship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Golds<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Prefer \u201csocial functions\u201d over \u201cwild parties.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy planned, predictable get-togethers.<\/li>\n<li>Are quickly worn down by friends who are nontraditional, risk takers, or nonconformists.<\/li>\n<li>Like friends who contribute to their overall goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Greens<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Have only one or two friends<\/li>\n<li>Will get together to share interests or activities.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t chit-chat or shoot-the-breeze with friends.<\/li>\n<li>Like friends who are logical and independent.<\/li>\n<li>Prefer friends who control their thoughts, actions and emotions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Oranges<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Like friends who are adventurous, spontaneous, and like action.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t want friends who get all hung up over little things or say \u201cWe can\u2019t do this because we\u2019ll get into trouble.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Choose friends who bring something concrete to the relationship.
