How to Teach People the Secrets of Discovering the Colors of Other People

Did you know the Insights on Discovering the Colors of Other People course is available to facilitators who want to deliver a two-hour follow-up presentation to people who have already completed the Discovering Your Personality Spectrum course?

During the first hour of the course, the facilitator uses a number of slideshows and small group activities to demonstrate how to identify the temperament of other people.

  • First, the participants will look at a number of famous television and movie characters and try to identify what they have in common.
  • Then they will learn why the “wise application of knowledge is power,” discover the pros and cons of observing behaviors, and find out that it is more important to determine “why” someone is behaving in a certain way rather than merely observing “what” they are doing.
  • Next, the participants will review a series of video clips from a celebrated television program as the facilitator demonstrates the process of identifying the primary color of each of the characters.
  • Next, participants will work in small groups to make a list of television or movie characters who they think are Blue, Gold, Green, and Orange.
  • Finally, participants will complete a workbook assessment activity that measures their ability to identify the primary color of some renowned fictional characters.

During the second hour of the course, the focus shifts from identifying the colors of well-known people to identifying the colors of strangers and people who are known only to each participant.

  • Participants will learn six overt and covert strategies that reveal someone’s temperament, including how to use written assessments, Discovery Cards, online assessments, revealing questions, keywords, and environmental clues such as an individual’s choice of clothing.
  • Participants will work together to colorize a variety of objects that they might see people wear or see in someone’s environment.
  • Next, they will participate in the “What’s My Color” game where a panel takes turns using covert strategies to determine the primary color of contestants.
  • Finally, participants will demonstrate their new skills by identifying the colors of a complete stranger.

If you have purchased the Discovering Your Personality Spectrum Facilitator Kit in the past, you may purchase the Insights on Discovering the Colors of Other People Facilitator Kit which includes a step-by-step facilitator guide, a presentation CDROM, and a sample 12-page workbook.

As with all other Insight programs, when you teach this course, each participant must have the workbook which accompanies the course.

If you have a current associate-level membership to our website, you may also create a customized book rather than using the standard workbook.
